Tutoring
Experience
I previously was a visiting lecturer at MIT, and have received the Goodwin Medal, a prestigious award for my teaching.
Professionally, I was a software at various startups, including Brilliant.org where I was first part of the teaching staff and wrote some computer science courses, and later was on the engineering staff building interactive tools used in every single lesson.
I am ready to teach various subjects:
- Computer Science at a college/graduate school level
- I am particularly well-practiced at software design, computer systems (OS, Networks, Distributed Systems, …)
- Computer Architecture and CPU design
- Programming in Python, R, Java
- General math at a college level
- College-level calculus
- Discrete math
- Intro to proof techniques
- High-school math, physics, chemistry
This is not an exhaustive list. Do reach out if you’re not sure: I have taught a lot more than makes sense to include on this list :)
How I teach
At the core of my teaching practice is meeting students where they are at. To me, that not only means matching the material to their abilities, but also building their confidence, and techniques to learn on their own.
One of my core strengths is not only teaching the material, but teaching how to learn. You will frequently notice me telling you why I’m choosing to teach something a specific way, and building confidence in the student’s abilities to solve a problem.
Affordability
Rates
Part of meeting my students where they are means making sure I am affordable to all. In order to do so, I charge on a sliding scale between $250-$30/hr. If you are not sure where you should pay on that scale, let me know, I’m happy to discuss.
Group classes
Another way I am able to make myself available to more people is through group classes. If you are able to get a group of 2-6 peers together and a location I can teach in, I will happily teach the group as a whole. Contact me for my group rates.
